The NFL Guesser is the online office pool; it manages the entry of picks, scores, etc.
It started in 1994 and continues to evolve, supporting a small community of Guessers.

New Users
New users can be added until the start of the first Sunday game of Week 1.

How to Win
A Guesser picks their expected winners of NFL Games.  Correct picks are awarded points (see Weights seciont below).  Earn the most points to win the season.

1. Users must be curteous to other users.
2. Users must ignore #1 when a trash-talking opportunity presents itself.
3. Users must enter their picks before the game begins.  A non-pick will receive zero points.
4. In the case of a tie game, all users are winners.

To encourage picking of underdog teams and to add additional weight to correctly picked games for which there is even picking, points are awarded for wins.

Example: Team A vs Team B. If a large majority of users pick team A, then team A is weighted at 1 point and team B at 3 points.

Example: Team A vs Team B. If there is only a slight majority of users picking team A, then team A is weighted at 2 points and team B at 2 points.

Example: Team A vs Team B. If there is a majority of users picking team A but it is not extreme, then team A is weighted at 1 point and team B at 2 points.

All players are required to make a $30 USD donation by week #3. The donations are pooled and returned in full as prize money.

During the regular season, the top 3 places each week earn $15/$10/$5.

$30 USD is paid to the winner of the Prognosticator.

$30 USD is paid to the winner of the Eliminator.

For the remaining funds, 82.5% of the money is returned for the Regular Season; 17.5% for the Post Season.
The top 25% of the players in each season receive money, ranked by points descending. The points accumulated for the Post Season is distinct from the Regular Season.

The Profile page allows you to customize the site.

• Team display - Team Logos or Team City Names
• Print Picks rows Per Page - From the View Picks page a user can launch a page to print picks. Change this setting to best match how you print your picks with your specific browser and prtrait/landscape setting ... and how many rows you can fit on a page.
• Supress Reminder Email - A Reminder email is sent 2 days prior to games ... in case you forget to make your picks.
• Participate in Winnings Rollover - Choose this if you want upto $30 of your winnings to be held by the NFL Guesser admin for the next season. .... just a time saver.
  

This page allows the user to enter their picks. The user is unable to modify picks for games where the start date/time has passed.  After results are entered this page displays the users wins and losses for the week.

A user may hide upto 2 picks from other users. After the game has started, the hidden picks will be visible to all users.

An automated job scrapes web sites to determine mid-game socres. This is scheduled at 2 minute intervals whilst games are in progress.

• Who - This page allows anyone to view everyone's picks for a week. The users are sorted according to earned points
• Results - After results are entered the losses are shown as a red X.
• Navigation - The blue arrows allow the user to view the next or previous week.
• Weights - The game weights are displayed in the team image if it is 2 points or 3 points.
• Money - The green line represent the break between in-the-money and not.

This page allows anyone to view everyone's points (wins-losses) for the regular season or post season. The users are sorted according to winning percentage. Results in green signify the highest score for the given week.

This is a side-show where users can enter their predictions for post season teams and results.

• Predictions are locked at the start of Week 2.
• After the start of Week 2, predictions are visible to everyone.
• Users receive 1 point for correct post season picks, 2 points for correct Conference Champs, 3 points for the correct Super Bowl Winner, and 3 points for the correct first draft.
• Payout is equal to the donation amount

This is a side-show where a user declares a game to represent their most confident pick. The user with the most points after the Superbowl is the winner.

• In the regular season, a user can only declare a game involving a team once.
• In the post season, a user can declare any game. (only available if multiple no-loss users tied for 1st place)
• A user can choose to not declare a game.
• If the user wins the declared game or the game ends in a tie, then they get the point value of the pick in the Eliminator.
• If the user looses the declared game, then they get zero points and are blocked from declaring future games.
• Payout is equal to the donation amount

This page shows the financial credits and debits for your logon. At the end of the season one can choose to "rollover" the next year's donation and have their current data replicated.
